The Journey of a Dress Exhibition
April – May 1, Wilshire May Company Building, Los Angeles Journey of a Dress is Diane Von Furstenberg’s homage to her iconic wrap dress, her first and most famous garment. The exhibition launched to celebrate the dress' 40th anniversary and includes a retrospective of vintage and contemporary DVF wraps, with a timeline chronicling the journey of the iconic dress—from the first sample to a wardrobe staple for generations of women. It includes portraits of the designer, muse, and collector by celebrated artists such as Andy Warhol, Barbara Kruger, Chuck Close, Francesco Clemente, Helmut Newton, and Annie Leibovitz. The work of Anh Duong, Zhang Huan and Li Songsong is also featured, as well as that of other contemporary artists.
40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
April 11-13, The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, Long Beach Experience the thundering sounds, sights and action of the 40th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, as the top auto racers in the world attack this exciting street course as part of the 2014 Verizon IndyCars series. Four-time champ Mario Andretti serves as the Grand Marshal for this big anniversary event, with 2013 series champion Scott Dixon, Long Beach winners Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves, Takuma Sato and Will Power also set to take the track. A full weekend of action, excitement -- and great food and drink for purchase -- includes races from the Firestone Indy Lights and TUDOR Championship, the Pro/Celebrity Race, the Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge, the Pirelli World Challenge, a family fun zone, a lifestyle expo, concerts featuring rocker Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and more.

Lucia di Lammermoor
April 6, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles LA Opera brings Gaetano Donizetti's tragic opera Lucia di Lammermoor back to Los Angeles for the first time in a decade. Loosely based on Sir Walter Scott's historical novel, Lucia concerns the emotionally fragile Lucy Ashton, who's caught in a vicious feud between families. The setting is the hills of Scotland (Lammermoor) in the 17th century. Donizetti wrote Lucia in 1835 -- a time when Europeans were highly interested in the history and culture of Scotland, having romanticized its violent wars and feuds, and its folklore and mythology. This production is sung in Italian, with English supertitles.
Cheyenne Jackson presents Music of the Mad Men Era Tickets
April 26, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles Star of Broadway, Glee and 30 Rock Cheyenne Jackson, along with Emmy winner Jane Lynch and Rebecca Romijn, will bring his Music of the Mad Men Era concert to L.A.'s Walt Disney Concert Hall on April 26. Jackson and his special guests will sing lounge music from the '50s and '60s accompanied by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The concert hall is celebrating its 10th anniversary season.
BH100 Centennial Block Party
April 27, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive will host a huge block party to commemorate the City's Centennial and the April 24 Independence Day. The evening’s fun includes carnival rides, entertainment including R&B legend March Reeves, a "Taste of Beverly Hills" food festival, historical displays, fireworks and a cake big enough to feed 15,000 people. The block party will run from 3:30-8 p.m. on the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Rodeo Drive.
