Hollywood Costume
December – March 1, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Los Angeles
The last stop of this exhibition's world tour is at the upcoming Academy Museum of Motion Pictures—in the Wilshire May Company building next to LACMA. It's a collaboration between the Academy and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. See some of the film world's most well known costumes in person, and get to know the designers who made them a reality. In addition to the 150 costumes in the original show, the Academy will add 50 more to this exhibition from its collection, including Dorothy's ruby slippers and her blue gingham dress. Watch the trailer (for the exhibition, of course—it is the Academy after all) and make sure to book your time-slot tickets in advance.
Into the Woods
December 2 – 21, The Wallis, Beverly Hills
Careful the wish you make! Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of beanstalk fame), a Baker and his Wife must cross paths in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning Into the Woods, a modern twist on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The beloved storybook characters take on startling complexity as they discover wishes come with a price. Witches, wolves, giants and mysterious strangers force the heroes to face the music and look past “Happily Ever After.” Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s critically-acclaimed new production is a humorous and heartfelt chase through the woods, featuring a 17-member cast and an 18-member orchestra performing such unforgettable songs as No One Is Alone, Children Will Listen and Giants in the Sky.

Tournament of Roses
December 27- January 1, Pasadena
For more than a century, the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena has been a festival of flowers, music and sports celebrated by a parade and college football. But the Tournament is much more: it's America's New Year Celebration, a greeting to the world on the first day of the year, and a salute to the community spirit and love of pageantry. From the pre-bowl game feasting at Lawry’s Beef Bowl, to the spectacular Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl Game on New Year's Day, the Tournament of Roses is a Southern California tradition that is unequaled anywhere in the world.
